Son’s birth brings family closer to God
By SUSAN MOTTERN
About 21 years ago we had a special addition to our family. Our son Jesse was born on Dec. 13, 1989, weighing 4 pounds 4 1/2 ounces.
Jesse was not due to come until February 1990, but he decided his mom and dad needed him here for Christmas. Jesse stayed in the neonatal unit at UT Medical Center for six weeks, he had several health problems at this time.
Because of Jesse arriving early, J.E. and I felt this was God’s way of telling us we needed to be in church on a regular basis and to start living closer to Him. I made a promise to God that if he would only let our son live I would try my best to raise him in church and that we would be as faithful as we would in doing His work.
Needless to say, that is where we spent our Christmas. And we are still serving the Lord with all our heart. There is not a day that I do not thank the Lord for everything He has donefor our family.
J.E. and I have been blessed to have our son Jesse and daughter Jessica, daughter-in-law Amanda, and two healthy grandchildren, Jake and Abby.
