Junior Louis McGinnis, age 82 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2011 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. He was born September 6, 1928 in Grainger County. He was retired from Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge where he was a machinist for 37 years. Member of Machinist Local 480. He loved gospel music and served as song leader and deacon of his home church at Beech Grove in Grainger County until poor health kept him from being able to attend anymore. He was also an avid gardener. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Imogene Manning McGinnis; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ruth and Darrell Lay of Corryton; grandson, Clinton Bryan Ownby and fiancée, Christina Madewell of Knoxville; granddaughter, Laura (Ownby) Sprain and husband Mike of Knoxville; great grandsons, Kyle Ownby of Eagleville, TN and Ethan Sprain of Knoxville; sisters, Mary Lou Lay and husband Bobby of Knoxville, Ola Isabell Robbins of Knoxville; many nieces and nephews and cousins. The family would like to say a very special Thank you to Drs. Anthony Morton and George Krisle and their staff for all their compassionate love and care during all of Mr. McGinnis’ illness. Thank you also to the staff at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. Funeral Service 8PM Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. Bobby Lay officiating. Music provided by Dearl and Rosemary Harville. Family and friends will meet Tuesday at McGinnis-Harrell Cemetery in Thorn Hill, TN at 10:45AM for interment at 11:00AM with Rev.
