He was preceded in death by his father Fred Greer Baxter; brother, Anthony Greer Baxter and nephew Little Bill Turner. He is survived by wife Carolyn Barton Baxter; mother-in-law, JoAnn Rutherford of the home; mother, Mary Ellen Baxter of Newport; daughters, Tabitha Baxter Ball of Newport, Crystal (Frank) Duncan of Dandridge; sons, Mark Lane, Richard (Missy) Lane of Newport; grandchildren, Damion and Olivia Ball, of Newport, Taylor (Bradley) Owens of Seymour, Mark Scott Lane and Paylin Lane of Newport; great-grandson, Bently Owens of Seymour; brothers, Jack (Dale) Baxter, Ralph Eston (Joyce) Baxter, Donald Eugene (Sissy) Baxter, Bobby (Alana) Crum, of Newport, Danny Phillips of Cosby; sisters, Edna Faye (Brian) Ball of Cosby, Jane Ann (Bill) Turner of Newport; and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to caregiver, Melissa Ramsey, Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, Dr. Williams, Chaplain Glen Bradley and Denise Howard. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday September 1, 2013 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Marty Eddinger and Preacher Justin Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Baxter Family Cemetery, Baysinger Road, Newport. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Manes Funeral Home.
