Dorothy Clearman-Thompson, age 80, of Lenoir City passed away Sunday morning, December 5, 2010 at her home. Dorothy was a member of the Maryville Church of Christ.
She was a native of Sweetwater and was a graduate of Sweetwater High School Class of 1948 and was captain of the championship basketball team and football queen. Dorothy was a former Miss Sweetwater and Miss Monroe County. She was a retired accountant, was the Past President of the American Professional Business Women’s Association and was an avid gardener.
She was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Alma Lee Murr; brother, Wayne Murr and sister, Ruby Murr.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Jack Thompson; children, Charles Clearman of Maryville, Harry Clearman and wife, Cathy of Shelby, NC, Roger Dale Clearman and wife, Angela of Atlanta, GA, Cindy Floyd and husband, Keith of Friendsville, David Clearman and wife, Lisa of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Evan Clearman, Ryan Clearman, Savanah Clearman, Chris Clearman, Travis Clearman, Zach Floyd, Kelsey Clearman, Lexie Hall, Haley Hall, Adam Floyd, Mallory Hall, Jake Clearman, and Jessica Grace Clearman; great grandson, Channing Speer; sister, Joan Murr Mowery of Farragut; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Murr of Farragut; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Mr. Jonathan Jones II officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memorial West Cemetery.
