MIZE, ROBERT LEE (RET. COL.) - loving father, adoring Papaw, and loyal friend, was born May 29, 1927 and received his marching orders Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Waiting to greet him in heaven were his mother Mattie Pearl Lowe Mize, wife of 47 years Juanita Carr Mize; and son David Michael Mize. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ken Warden; granddaughters Hanna Warden(with whom he shared a birthday) and Kerry Guedry and husband Chase; loving companion Evelyn Cotter and her son Randy Vittatoe; special neighbors Donald and Dorothy Sharp; and a large caring family at Farragut Christian Church. Col. Mize served with the U.S. Army in Italy during WWII with the 88th Blue Devil Division of General Mark Clark's Army. After his retirement he joined the TN Defense Force and the Volunteer State Honor Guard. Col. Mize was a chaplain with the Volunteer State Honor Guard, performing over 5000 funerals for his fellow veterans. Col. Mize founded Farragut Christian Church in his home in 1963, and spent his life in faithful service to God, his family, and community. The family will receive friends Sunday November 28, at Farragut Christian Church from 3 - 6pm. The celebrations of Bob's Life will follow at 6pm with Minister Jason Warden presiding. Full Military Honors presented by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. Graveside services will be held at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Monday November 29, at 11:30 am with Chaplain Roland Waters officiating.
