DERIEUX, WILLIE MAE "GRANNY BILL" MAPLES - Our beloved Granny Bill was led by angels to our Heavenly Father on Thursday October 28, 2010. There will be one more bright star in the sky tonight. Granny Bill was born on May 5, 1910 in Knoxville to the late James P. and Jeanie Lindsey Maples. She was a lifelong member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church where she had been active in the Golden Notes Choir and a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. Granny Bill was retired from the Standard Knitting Mill though she remained busy until the recent past. She was a wonderful cook, often preparing meals on a moment's notice that many enjoyed over the years. Granny Bill loved her family and friends and gladly devoted her days to them, providing care whenever called upon. At the age of 100 years, her quick wit and dry sense of humor remained with her. Our much loved Granny will be deeply missed but will live on in our hearts forever. She is reunited in Heaven with her husband, Gene Derieux, sister and brother- in- law, Nancy and Albert Cameron with whom she shared a home; other brothers and sisters-in-law, Shade Maples and wife Ada, Charles Maples and wife Myrtle, Scott Maples, Jack Maples and wife Bernice; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carrie Horner and husband Jessie, Ruby Spurgeon and husband George. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law with whom she made her home for the past 5 years, Patsy and Rex Ownby; grandson and wife, Joe and Patricia Ownby; granddaughter and husband, Kathy and Gus Paidousis; great grandchildren Kayla Paidousis, Cameron Paidousis, Samantha Ownby and Rex Ownby and a host of other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff and Doctors at Brakebill Nursing Home for their care and compassion in Granny's last months. A funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Reverend John Holland officiating. The family and friends will meet Monday at Greenwood Cemetery for a 11:30 A.M. interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Lincoln Park Baptist Church, 830 Chicamauga Ave. Knoxville, Tennessee 37917. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 P.M. Sunday at Rose Mortuary, Broadway Chapel. Online Condolences may be made at www.rosemortuary.com
