MCMILLAN , HERBERT J. age 58, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Baptist Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of the South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Employed by Cemex for 35 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Preceded in death by mother, Helen Louise McMillan ; father, Herbert Simpson; grandmother, Juanita McMillan ; sister, Peola Sims; and brothers, Robert L. and Devine McMillan . Survived by loving and devoted wife of 10 years, Sandra ("Spanky"); children: daughter, Crystal McMillan ; sons, Jafar Flemming and Herbert Jerome McMillan , Jr.; stepchildren: Jrumeaia (Dmitri) Riddle, LaSheika (Keith) Riddle, Jimmy L. Tate, Jr.; grandchildren: Adrianna, Alexi, Destiny, Mikkel, Jyran, Cameron, Jada, J'rhiana, Jazzmine, Lance, NaNeeishia, Dmitri, Jr., Aaliyah, and Jala. Surviving siblings: brother, Cecil (Thelma) McMillan ; sisters, Elsie I. (Walter) Walker, and Martha Brown; aunt, Ethel McMillan ; mother-in-law, Lorraine Bryson; grandmother-in-law, Minnie Gadson; brother-in-law, James L. (Lori) Bryson, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Belinda Bryson and Dora Bryson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Special family and friends to include the Simpson Family, Mr. and Mrs. Denny Tippitt, Aaron Allen, Sr., Clayton Fields, Sr., Jackie Woods, Denise Hall, Willie Ross, Gail Moore, June Baxter, Barbara Barineau, members of the South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, and .Ann Curd. Special thanks to Dr. A. Dean Mire, Dr. Jay Young, Dr. James Baker and staff, Nikki Cota, Baptist Hospital 7B nurses, Dr. Tracy W. Dobbs, James Wolfenbarger and staff, Dr. Nilesh Patel and staff, Dr. Phil Meyette, Northwest Middle School faculty and staff, North Haven Healthcare-Broadway, and friends/employees of Cemex. The family will receive friends from 11:30a.m.-12(Noon) on Friday, December 21 at Unity Mortuary Chapel, 1425 McCalla Avenue, with service to follow at 12:00p.m. George Cobb, officiating. Immediately following the service, family and friends will proceed to Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike for interment. Joe Prescott and Ken Flanery, officiating.
