Shirley L. Kimsey Smith, at the age of 79, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016, caused by the ALS disease and pneumonia. Shirley was a member of the St. John United Methodist Church. She always loved working at the Church, helping Family Promise, and especially helping her elder family and friends. Later her personal biography was entitled "They Called Her Kimsey". Shirley followed her husband into his military service at Columbia, SC and then to Nashville, TN for 3 years. Then she returned to Blount County for permanent residency. Shirley got much enjoyment from traveling around the world, sailing the Carribean, and spending winters in Florida on the Isles of Capri.
