Rev. Ralph Edmond Galyon, Sr. age 86 of Alcoa passed away on Monday, September 13, 2010 at Ben Atchley Veterans Home after suffering from Alzheimer’s for a number of years. He was a member of East Maryville Baptist Church after he retired from being a pastor for 50 years in Kentucky and Tennessee. He graduated from Carson Newman College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and from Southern Baptist Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree. He was a surviving POW from World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack A. Galyon and Hattie Mae Thomas Galyon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Troy and Juanita Galyon, Arthur and Margaret Galyon, Johnie and Nell Galyon; brother, Mack A. Galyon, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Jack Key; brother-in-law, Adrian Jett. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Clabo Galyon, who assisted him throughout his ministry, as well as his daughter, Judy Underwood and her husband Lowrey of Cleveland; son, Ralph (Eddie) Galyon, Jr. and his wife Kim of Powell; sons, Mark A. Galyon and his wife Norma (Jody) of Alcoa, John G. Galyon of Alcoa; grandchildren, Jeff Underwood and wife Amy, Greg Underwood and wife Kara, Drew Galyon, Matthew Galyon and wife Sarah, Jessica McQuade and husband Steven, Justin Galyon, Ryan Galyon, Cameron Galyon, Wesley Galyon, and Braden Galyon; great grandchildren, Gracie and Chance Underwood; sisters, Lucie Jett, Faye Alleman and husband Don; sister-in-law, Dorothy Galyon; and many extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010 at East Maryville Baptist Church with Funeral Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Keith Johnson and Rev. David Webster officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2010 at Highland South Cemetery for the Interment. Pallbearers will be: Lowrey, Jeff, and Greg Underwood, Drew, Matthew, Justin, Ryan, and Braden Galyon. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Cameron and Wesley Galyon, Don Alleman, Howard Clabough and Steven McQuade.
