Cocke County native remains hospitalized
DANDRIDGE: Barry Gregg of Dandridge remains in critical condition at UT Hospital in Knoxville following an accident on January 15.
Gregg, son of Randy and Gladys Gregg of Newport, was struck by a vehicle as he exited a Dandridge restaurant that morning. The impact knocked Gregg to the ground where his head struck a concrete curb.
Following initial treatment, Gregg was transported to the Knoxville facility.
Doctors there placed Gregg in a medically-induced coma and prescribed manitol, a drug used to control swelling of the brain. He later developed blood clots in both legs and pneumonia and suffered a collapsed left lung.
