WATKINS , MRS. MARTHA DAVIS - age 53, of Jefferson City, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Sunday morning, October 1, 2000, at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville, following an extended illness. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Hebron Presbyterian Church and was also a member of many professional educational associations. She was a teacher in the Jefferson County School System for more than 30 years and most recently was a Special Education Teacher in the Piedmont and Talbott Elementary Schools. Mrs. Watkins was the recipient of the Jefferson County Teacher of the Year Award for the 1999 school year. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira M. and Ada Belle Davis , and a nephew, Thomas C. Davis . She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Lynn C. Watkins of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Susan Watkins of Corryton; daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Scott Kammann of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Ira Chris and Robin Davis of Jefferson City; nephews, Rankin, Jessie, and Josh Davis , all of Jefferson City, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, October 3, 2000, from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City with Dr. R. R. Turner officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service in the chapel. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, October 4, 2000, at Farrar Funeral Home and proceed to Hebron Presbyterian ChurchCemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests, memorial contributions be made to the Hebron Cemetery Fund, c/o Dan Churchman, 162 East Dumplin Valley Road, Dandridge, TN 37725 or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Susan Howell, ACS Memorial and Honor Gift, 1423 Leon Drive, Jefferson City, TN 37760. A special thanks is extended to the many friends and family who have been of special help throughout Martha 's sickness, including Dr. David Martin and his staff, Baptist Home Health Care, and to the staff of Floor 8B at Baptist Hospital.
