Jewel Edgar Clabo, age 91 of Sevierville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2014. He lived in Sevier County all of his life. In his later years he resided at the James H. Quillen Veterans Home in Johnson City. He served in World War II in the 87th Infantry Division of the 346th Regiment in Company C. He became a Medic and was honored with the Silver Star and Purple Heart among other Metals and Awards. He was wounded while attending to Soldiers on the front line in heavy artillery. He was in what is known as The Battle of the Bulge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Rozelia Huskey Clabo, Sisters: Marie McCarter, Eva Fain, Betty Maples, Anna Mae Clabo and Joyce Rimel; and Brother Roy Jay Clabo.
Survivors:
Sisters: Luella Manning of Sevierville and Freida Cole of Gatlinburg. Several nieces and nephews.
Also survived by his lifelong friend whom he met on the first day of his Army career, Willard Clauser of Illinois.
The family will receive friends from 6-7PM Tuesday with funeral service to follow at 7PM in the chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet 10AM Wednesday at Huskey Grove Cemetery for interment. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #104. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
