Mrs. Joan K. Shetley, age 58, died Monday, April 18, 2005 at the High Point Regional Hospital. She was born on January 25, 1947 in Buncombe Co. a daughter of Fred Kuykendall and Pauline Willis Kuykendall.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1977 and her identical twin sister, Jean K. Shetley in 1980. She was a homemaker and a member of Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church, where she was the church secretary, a nursery teacher, and a pianist for numerous years.
On November 24, 1972 she married Minnis H. Shetley who survives of the home. Also surviving are three sons, Craig Shetley and his special friend Loretta Toler of Greensboro, Christopher Shetley and his wife Tina and Eric Shetley all of Thomasville; her mother, Pauline W. Kuykendall of Newport, TN; two stepchildren, Kimberly Self and her husband, Hugh of Hot Springs, NC and Darrell Shetley of Thomasville; two brothers, Larry Kuykendall and his wife Brenda and Jimmy Kuykendall, all of Newport, TN; seven grandchildren and numerous church family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Aprill 22, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. James Shetley and Rev. Jimmy Barbour officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Shetley will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-9 p.m.
The family would like to specially thank the staff of the High Point Cancer Center, 3rd floor, for their loving care during Joan's illness.
