(September 25, 1927 - February 4, 2012)
Dorothy Carver, age 84 of Greenback, passed away Saturday February 4, 2012. Mother, Mamaw Dot, NeeNee, a woman known by nearly as many endearments as grandchildren she had. Dorothy Carver dedicated her long, rich life to the ardent pursuit of happiness for others. The selflessness she possessed, along with her unfathomable ability to pour unconditional love onto all she encountered are only two of the extraordinary qualities that set her apart from the average person. There was never a day in her 84 years that she did not smile, laugh, have a warm hug (or two) to give, and take time to be thankful for her blessings. These traits made loving Mamaw Dot completely inevitable. Whether it was a son or daughter, a new grandbaby, a puppy, or a roommate at her nursing home, no one was immune to the warmth of her affection and maternal concern. She crocheted blankets that warmed many cribs and couches, babysat for countless children, cared for the sick in her family with unwavering dedication, and provided a happy home to the animals she loved so dearly. Her life was spent caring for others, and instilling all of the children she raised with values that have carried them to innumerable successes and happiness, which is all she could have hoped for. Dorothy was special not just because of all the things she did, but because of who she was; a woman of God and the very model of what a person should strive to be. For these reasons and many others she will not soon be forgotten, and the fruits of her efforts will never cease to be manifest. She is preceded in death by husband, Elzie C. Carver; son, James Ray Carver; parents, David and Della Grey. She is survived by sons, Thomas David Carver of Maryville, Samuel Lynn Carver of Greenback, and Timothy Howard of Greenback; daughter, JoAnn Ramsey of Morristown; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Johnny Grey. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday February 8, 2012 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Dennis Loy officiating. The graveside and interment service will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
