Fox, Dr. Gerald Lynn – age 68 of Knoxville went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 20, 2010, at UT Medical Center. He was the son of the late Clarence William and Marie Brock Fox. Member of Second Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Central High School in Knoxville. He earned a B.S. from the UT and a DDS from UT Memphis. Rotating intern Wilford Hall USAF Hospital, San Antonio; intern and resident in oral surgery U. Texas Medical School, San Antonio; member of teaching staff U. Texas School of Dentistry and VA Hospital, San Antonio; practice dentistry specializing in oral and maxillofacial surgery; member of staff Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center, Indian Path Hospital, Kingsport, TN; appointed by governor to Mal-Practice Review Board, TN; Director Indian Hills Medical Complex; Pres. Sullivan County Chapter American Cancer Society; medical missionary, Honduras; served to capt. USAF; recipient Marion Fuller award; award American Cancer Society; award So. Baptist Missionary Board; diplomat American Board Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; Fellow American College Oral and maxillofacial Surgeons (a founder); member ADA American Assn. Shanks; grandchildren, Jennifer Montsinger Howard (David), Kristopher Montsinger, Hunter Fox, Katelyn Fox, Hayden Fox, Jonathan Shanks, Heather Crattie (Zachary), Ashlee Curry (Gerard), and Shannon Hall (Sean); brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Joe Dennis Fox and Judie L. Fox, Ann and the late John Faulkner, Rhea and Brenda Smith, Sandy and Carolyn Smith, and Janet and the late Ben Bower; great grandchildren, David Howard, Z. Nicholas Crattie, and Delaney Curry. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Second Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bryan Wilson and Dr. Bill Barron officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 PM Friday at Ft. Sumter Community Cemetery for a 1:00 PM interment with military honors.
