TITTSWORTH, ELLEN DAVIS - age 94, a former resident of Knoxville, died on Feb. 16 in Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie, NC, where she had been a resident since 1994. A native of Blount County, Mrs. Tittsworth was born July 2, 1905 to John D. & Nola Mae (Goddard) Davis. She was united in marriage to William Elihu Tittsworth of Blount County, Sept. 7, 1929. She & her husband moved to Knoxville shortly thereafter, where he was employed by the former East Tennessee Packing Company & she, by Knoxville City Schools. They had been longtime members of South Knoxville Baptist Church until their removal to Murfreesboro, NC in 1989 when they united with Murfreesboro Baptist Church. Mr. Tittsworth died in April, 1993. In addition to her husband of63 years, Mrs. Tittsworth was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Fred, Roy, & Herman Davis; & 1 sister, Troy ( McClanahan ) McNeilly . She is survived by daughter, Doris (Tittsworth) Taylor & son-in-law, R. Hargus Taylor of Murfreesboro, NC; grandson, David Warren Taylor & wife Lisa of Monroe, NC; granddaughter, Marcia (Taylor) Thompson & husband Philip of Pendleton, NC; 4 great grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Taylor, William Avery Taylor, Nathanael Edward Thompson, & Andrew Taylor Thompson; 3 brothers, Henderson McClanahan , Ivan McClanahan , & S.M. McClanahan , all of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 1-3 p.m. Sun., Febr. 20 at Berry's Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy. Funeral services will then be conducted at Berry's Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. on Sun., Feb. 20 with interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either "The Doris and Hargus Taylor Scholarship," Chowan College, PO Box 1848, Murfreesboro, NC 27855 or the Building Fund, Murfreesboro Baptist Church, PO Box 124, Murfreesboro, NC 27855.
