He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country from 1943 to 1945. Preceded in death by: his beloved wife of 63 years, Monnie McElhaney sons, Julius and Thomas McElhaney grandson, Keith McElhaney grandson-in-law, David Grubb parents, Thomas and Minerva McElhaney also eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include: sons and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Patty McElhaney of Bean Station, Billy McElhaney of Knoxville daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and Jimmy McCarter of Jefferson City, Judy and Jim Sands of Rutledge daughter-in-law, Patsy McElhaney of Blaine grandchildren, Jason and Justin McElhaney , Angel Strange, Michael McCarter, Mitzi McElhaney , Lenee Grubb, Debbie Watson and Cindy Woody six great grandchildren four great great grandchildren many nieces and nephews special friends, Fain Wells and Delmas Atkins. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 Tuesday evening at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Rutledge with services at 8 p.m., Rev. Hollis Dunsmore and Rev. David Helton officiating.
