Pastor Lawrence E. Ford - age 71 of Mascot, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior while serving Him at a camp meeting in Daytona Beach, Florida on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Atlee Ford; his brother, J. L. Ford; and by his dear son, Terry Ford. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Evelyn Ford; daughters, who he loved wholeheartedly, Joy Ruble and husband Sam, and Kristi Davis and husband Kenny; grandchildren, who were the joy of his life, Zachary, Jacob, Courtney, and Caleb; brothers, Fond Ford and wife Gwen, and Laymond Ford and wife Barbara; mother-in-law, Mildred Douglas; and several nieces and nephews. Bro. Ford was the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Oak Ridge and was former pastor of Flint Gap, Sunset Heights, Gilead and Wolf Valley Baptist Churches. He was a highly skilled electrician who was able to repair almost anything. He was a man of great conviction and lived a selfless life helping others, whether he was helping them spiritually or literally getting down into a ditch and doing whatever he could to be a blessing. He enjoyed fellowshipping with his golfing friends. The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2010, at Bridges Funeral Home, Knoxville, TN, with Pastor Mike Goodson and Brothers Paul Lester and Jerry Garner officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at Roseberry Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment.
