Geraldine Thelma Lamb Childs, 61, of Clinton, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Childs was a member of Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Clinton.
Born June 25, 1936, in Meigs County, she was the daughter of Sam and Tilda Lamb.
She enjoyed quilting, spending time with her grandchildren, canning and helping others, the family said, adding she will be deeply missed.
In earlier years, Mrs. Childs had worked at the former Edwards Restaurant in Oak Ridge, where she was known to friends and co-workers as "Geri."
She is survived by her husband, Fred Childs; two daughters, Susan McKinney and Betty Ambrose and her husband, Ricky, all of Clinton; one son, Joe Childs and his wife, Jean, of Clinton; and five grandchildren, Christy Ambrose, Missy McKinney, Joey Childs, Lee Ambrose and Josh McKinney.
Mrs. Childs is also survived by six sisters, Lena Farmer, Betty Lamb and Lura Ricker, all of Decatur, Hazel Lindsey of Clinton, Ann Castill of Etowah and Mary Ruth Dawson of Sweetwater; and three brothers, Lonzo Lamb of Athens, Jerry Lamb of Sweetwater and Lester Lamb of Decatur.
A daughter, Deborah Diane Childs, and her son-in-law, Gene McKinney, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Clinton with the Rev. Luke Kidwell and the Rev. John Brantley officiating.
Burial will follow at Batley Baptist Church Cemetery in Clinton.
The family will receive friends today, April 24, after 11 a.m. at the home at 154 Batley Road, Clinton, and Saturday until time for the funeral.
