Mrs. Mary Ruth Hux, age 74, of Newport, was born on February 8, 1929, and went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 5, 2004, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital.
She will be remembered as having served her community providing child-care to three generations of Cocke Countians over a span of 25 years at Kiddy Korner Day Care until her retirement in 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dexter Van Buren Manning and Louella Burgess Manning; sister, Margaret Green; and brothers, Jimmy Manning, Jack Manning, and J.B. Manning.
She was a devoted Christian and member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Frank S. Hux, of the home; sons, Jimmy and wife Louise Hux, Glen and wife Sandra Hux, Terry and wife Debra Hux; daughter, Linda and husband Paul Daniels; grandchildren, Dustin and wife Jennifer Hux, Whitney and husband Jason Laws, Jeramy Hux, David Williams, Lori Williams, Jeremy and wife Rethal Crum, Jason Crum, Holly Hux, Meredith Hux; great-grandchildren, Madison Crum and Rebecca Laws; half-sisters, Elizabeth and husband Tim Burgess, Ina Manning; brothers, Edward Manning, Charles Manning, Paul and wife Betty Manning; half-brothers, Johnny and wife Jamie Manning, Tommy and wife Risa Manning; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 8, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Ottinger officiating.
Entombment will be in Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, January 7, 2004, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
