Ray Vance, age 88, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011, at UT Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lou Bivens Vance, Sr.; brothers, Sam Vance, Jr., Burkett Vance, and Floyd Vance; sister, Millie Vance; step-mother, Mae Bell Vance; children, twins Betty and Billy, and Faye “Tootsie” Vance; and grandson, Kenny Vance. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Dorothy Webber Vance; sons, Bud, Jimmy, and Gene Vance; daughter, Donna Crotser; step-daughters and husband, Terri Webber Covert and Marc Hill and Dot Thomas; stepson, Ronnie Cagle; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother and fiancé, Donnie Vance and Angela Rogers; sisters, Anna Mae Kirkland and Beulah Williams; step-sister, Carlalee Devine; special friends, Jamey Burge and Rosie Skoog; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel. Family and friends will gather 11:00 AM Sunday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the graveside service and interment. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, (865) 982-6041, www.millerfuneralhome.org.
