Vernon Lee Stills, devoted father and husband, age 82, Mine Hollow Road, Hot Springs, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at his residence.
He was a retired member of the United States Army and he also retired from the United States Forestry Service in 1994.
He was a member of Antioch Methodist Church in Hot Springs.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. The greatest loves of his life were his grandson, granddaughter-in-law and two great-grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Ruth Tino Stills; sons and daughter-in-law Anthony and Doris Stills and Victor Stills; daughter Veronica Holt; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Chad Trevor and Shanan Holt; two very special great-grandsons Johnathon Rae Massey Holt and Maddox Connor Holt; brother and sister-in-law Shermont and Pauline Stills; a number of special nieces and nephews; and special friends Clydes and Hazel Swaney, Clyde and Aletha Tino, Hunter and Shelby Jean Tino, Charlie and Peggy Coulter, Faith Woody, Ashley Brown, Zachary Moore, and Felicia Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel, 125 Idletime Drive, Greeneville, TN with Rev. Randy Wood officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chad Holt, Freddie Barnett, Brent Stills, Junior Lamb, Eugene Lawson, and Marty Evans.
Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, in Pine Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Friday morning for the committal service. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Greene County Honor Guard.
