TURNER , VERNON R. (POP) - age 79, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospice. Member of Baptist faith. Veteran of the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Retired from K.U.B. Preceded in death by grandson, Lucas B. Turner . Survivors: wife of 58 years, Nell Norris Turner ; daughters & sons-in-law, Agnes & Walt Strevel, Jane & Ed McHenry, all of Knoxville; sons & daughters-in-law, Gil & Millie Turner of Park City, Utah, Larry & Linda Turner of Huntsville , Ala.; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Imogene Harrison of Maynardville; several nieces & nephews. The family wants to extend a special thanks to St. Mary's Hospice Program. Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday Roseberry Baptist Church Rev. Kenny Shinlever officiating. Interment in Roseberry Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers: Matt, Jack, & Mark Turner , Bryan Strevel, Verlan Troutt, & Coy Freeman. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
