Mamie Elizabeth McCoig Hammonds age 90 of Newport passed away Saturday August 7, 2010 in Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. She was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Hammonds, son Dickie Hammonds, sister Edith Shrader and brother Jack McCoig. She is survived by her sons Gary Hammonds and wife Peggy of Newport, Benny Hammonds and wife Beverly of Gatlinburg, sister Billie Jean Chambers and her husband H.B. of Dandridge, grandchildren Krissy Sims, Lee Hammonds, Molly Scarbrough, John Hammonds, Clint Hammonds, Dan Hammonds, Beth Mathis; great grandchildren Hagan, and Karsen Sims, Pierce, Brady, and Colt Hammonds, Laura, Hannah, Wilson, James, and Julia Scarbrough, Max, Dixie, Faith, Leah, Anna, Eli and Emma Hammonds, Damara and Abigail Mathis. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday August 10, 2010 in Union Cemetery with Rev. Scott Gorrell officiating.
