SIMPSON, MARJORIE PORTER - 84, of 14945 Vonore Rd., Loudon, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005 at Loudon Healthcare Center. Marjorie was born in Mineral Bluff, GA., having moved to Tennessee at an early age. She was an active member of Loudon Freewill Baptist Church & she & her husband, Virgil , owned & operated Simpson Grocery for the past 46 years. Prior to that, she was an employee of Bacon Hosiery Mill. She was preceded in death by: parents, John & Dora Schaffer Porter brothers, Hubert, Clyde & Clifford Porter sisters, Mabel Clowers, Dora Lee Cantrell & Janice Coursey. Survivors: husband of 65 years, Virgil Simpson son, Dr. Terry L. Simpson, Maryville daughter, Gail Simpson, Loudon granddaughter, Jennifer Mowdy, Knoxville great granddaughter, Savannah, Mowdey, Knoxville 3 step-granddaughters & great granddaughters sisters, Eunice Giles, Loudon, Mildred Skidmore, Knoxville & Helena Schupp, Leesburg, Fla. host of nieces & nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday Loudon Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Carson Whitaker & Rev. Doug Easter officiating, Eulogy, Dr. Terry Simpson. Interment Simpson Cemetery. Family would like to thanks Loudon Healthcare & Station 3 for kindness extended during the final days of Marjorie's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Loudon Funeral Home.
