Alison Dawn Hayes and Brian Jeffrey Burke pledged wedding vows in an elegant candlelight ceremony Saturday, May 18, 2013, at six o’clock in the evening at Northport Baptist Church.
The Reverend Steve Thompson of? ciated at the celebration and the blessing of the marriage with Scripture reading from First Corinthians, Chapter 13 offered by the bride’s grandfather.
The bride is the daughter of George and Diana Hayes and the granddaughter of Joe and Mary Lynn Ellison and the late George and Lizzie Hayes, all of Bybee.
The bridegroom is the son of Truman and Emma Burke of Tavares, Florida, and the grandson of the late Miles and Zettie Coleman and the late Delmar and Edna Burke, all of Kentucky.
The couple exchanged vows before an altar center with a silver heart-shaped candelabrum ? anked by matching nine-branched silver candelabra, all intertwined with tulle. A silver unity candle stood to the left of the altar.
Two large silver urns held massive bouquets of white hydrangeas and greenery. Six large Boston ferns completed the altar setting.
White ? oor-length tulle bows accented with white and silver trimmed satins marked the pews. Burning white candles in hurricane globes nestled in delicate greenery marked each stained glass window. Two creamy white rose wreaths accented by long, ? owing tulle bows were placed on the church’s front doors.
Norwegian Wood of Knoxville, violinist, cellist, and oboist, provided wedding music, including love songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Also providing music was vocalist and pianist Cindy Moyers, who sang McCartney’s “Warm and Beautiful.” As a special tribute to his bride, the bridegroom performed John Lennon’s “Grow Old With Me.”
Stephanie Williams, vocalist, sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” and Dorothy Moore was organist.
Makenzie Coffey presided at the guest registry, and Makenzie and Makayley Marshall were program attendants.
Escorted to the altar and presented in marriage by her father, the bride selected a dupioni silk ball gown designed by Paloma Blanca. The strapless creation featured a sweetheart neckline with a silver band of crystals, sea pearls, and bugle beads surrounding the bodice and back. Inverted box pleats hid pockets holding her Greatgrandmother Ellison’s handkerchief and the wedding rings of her Greatgrandmother Holdway. Tiny covered buttons on the corset and back of the gown added to its beauty, and the gown ? owed into a sweeping chapel-length train.
Her cathedral-length veil of English tulle cascaded from a crystal tiara borrowed from her aunt Desiree Bannasch.
The bride’s wedding jewelry included Swarovski crystal chandelier earrings and matching bracelet. She carried a bouquet of creamy white roses with an antique broach of turquoise and pearls belonging to her late Grandmother Hayes attached to the ribbon surrounding the stems.
Danielle Ward of Sterling, Virginia, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Emerald Overholt of Newport and the bridegroom’s sister, Pamela Bartlett of Chandler, Arizona.
They wore strapless, full-length silver satin gowns of asymmetrical design with sweeping trains and carried bouquets of pink and creamy white roses.
Michael Burke of Noblesville, Indiana, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Groomsmen were the bridegroom’s brother, Timothy Burke and nephew, Benjamin Burke, both of Stafford, Virginia.
The bride’s uncles, Ron Ellison and Mack Hayes, both of Bybee, and Hal Bannasch of Orlando, Flo
ida, were ushers.
Little Misses Gracie Stokely and Tia White were ? ower girls. They wore matching soft white tiered ballgowns of satin and organza with silver satin sashes. Complementing their attires were crystal and pearl tiaras, gifts of the bride. They carried satin baskets of pink rose petals.
Master Tristian Ellison, the bride’s cousin, was ringbearer.
For her daughter’s wedding, the bride’s mother selected a ? oor-length one-shoulder gown of shimmering pewter metallic taffeta featuring ruching at the side and back.
The bridegroom’s mother chose a silk chiffon ? oor-length gown in smoky plum with sequins adorning the bodice and matching jacket. The bride’s grandmother wore a dove gray chiffon gown featuring a lace and sequined bodice and matching jacket. All ladies wore wrist corsages.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a formal dinner reception at Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center. Using the theme, “All You Need Is Love,” the banquet hall was decorated lavishly throughout with candles and vases over? owing with white hydrangeas. The focal point of the setting was a ? ve-tiered wedding cake topped with Swarovski crystal monograms and silver ribbons separating each tier. The bridegroom’s chocolate cake was a replica of his Gibson Les Paul honeyburst guitar.
Those serving the cakes were Kendra Davis and Judy Calfee.
Guests received guitar picks featuring the couple’s picture playing their guitars on the front and their names and wedding date on the back.
Following dinner, The Beat Club, formerly The Invaders, of Knoxville, performed British rock’n roll selections.
Cindy Moyers and Abby White directed the wedding. Desiree Bannasch and Susan Ashmore-Ellison coordinated the reception.
The newlyweds left by limousine for an undisclosed honeymoon destination. They are now at home in Oviedo, Florida.
