U.S. Veteran George “Buck” Ramsey, age 86, of Newport, passed away, Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Ramsey; parents, Garfield and Eula Ramsey; sisters, Christine Mason, Barbara Russell, Mary Holt, Ina Mae Mason and Beulah Shoemaker; brothers, Herbert Ramsey and Thomas Seward Ramsey. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Jerry Dunn; stepdaughter, Julie McAmis; brothers and sister-in-law, James and Mary Ramsey; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Lloyd Green; grandsons, Adam and Ryan Dunn all of Newport; special friend, Paul Williams; several special nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and all his friends at Hayes Hill café and the Bybee Market; also many other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Keith Presnell and Rev. Ned Ramsey officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday in the Hayes Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
