WOODY, GEORGE SYLVESTER - of Newport, passed away at his home Friday, July 23, 2004. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served in Honolulu, Hawaii from 1942-1946. He was a member of Dutch Bottoms Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his father, James Hooper Woody and mother, Annis Gertrude Woody brothers, James William Woody and Alfred Woody sisters, Alfreda Woody, Katherine Kyker and Edna Moss son-in-law, Buddy Owenby . He is survived by his wife, Darcus France Woody children, Debbie Eisenhower and husband, Kenny, Linda Huston and husband, Allen, of Newport, Georgia "Jobi" Owenby of Knoxville sister, Mary Phillips of Newport grandchildren, Kennie Leigh and Emily Eisenhower, Kim Allen and husband, Billy, George Allen and wife, Allison, all of Newport, Wendy Owenby , Karmen Miller and husband, Jeff, Amy Johnson and husband, Kirk, of Knoxville great-grandchildren, Emma and Chase Johnson, Reilly Miller of Knoxville, Skyler Allen and Alex Hutson of Newport special companion, Rocky several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Manes Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ray Swann officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in Swannsylvaina Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. prior to the service. Manes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
