Guy Piercy, Jr. age 63, of Farragut, TN, formerly of Atlanta, GA, died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville after a valiant battle with cancer. Guy was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Radio and Television Journalism program. Guy was a Vietnam veteran who served with the U.S. Army 525th Military Intelligence Unit stationed in Vietnam during 1968 and 1969. He was a Producer/Director with Georgia Public Television for 20 years. Guy had a deep passion for projects, using both technical skill and his heart in telling the stories so important to him. The audience, in turn, experienced the love and care Guy gave to his work. His television credits include: The Georgia Special Olympics, Lawmakers, Down Home Blues, Foxfire, and Georgia Outdoors. Guy received Emmy awards for outstanding achievement for his work on the magazine program Georgia Digest and the documentary film “On LeConte at 92”. He was a member of the American Motors Owners Association. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Piercy Sr.; brother, David M. Piercy; step father, William Brogan. Survivors: wife of 25 years, Mary E. (Fran) Piercy; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher D. and Kimberly A. Piercy; 2 grandsons, T. Alexander Piercy (7) and Ethan S. Piercy (4) all of Marietta, GA; mother, Georgia Clabough Piercy of Knoxville; nephew, Colin Piercy; grand niece, Brittany Piercy both of Oak Ridge; beloved pets, Cosmo and Calamity. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with celebrant Father John Dowling. Interment will follow in the Lake View Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the U. S. Army. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909.
