Carver, Joyce White, age 88, of Seymour, went home to be with Jesus, September 30, 2014. After high school, Joyce worked her way through business college where she learned bookkeeping, a field in which she worked for many years. Joyce came to know the Lord Jesus as a teenager and served as part of His church thru Sunday School, WMU and children's ministiries for many years at McCalla Ave. Baptist Church, Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church, and in recent years at Sevier Heights Baptist Church. She was a faithful leader in the Lightbearer's Sunday School Class and leaves many dear friends there. Preceded in death by parents, Ira Eugene and Lydia Speer White; husband, of 39 years, John Herman Carver; and brothers, Carl, Homer, and Ira Glyn White. Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Glenn Greene, and Barbara and Bob Deatherage; grandchildren, Kelly (Ben) Mainor, and Andrew and Adam Deatherage; two great-gransons, Eli and Ethan Mainor; and many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. with a service immediately to follow at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Friday, October 3, 2014 for an 11:00 A.M. graveside service. The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Williamsburg Assisted Living and the staff of U.T. Medical Center for their many kindnesses and extraordinary care.
