Curtis S. Branner Sr., age 59, of 438 Overlook Way, Newport, Tn., departed this life on Saturday April 16, 2005. He was born October 21, 1945 in Jefferson County to Curley Branner. He was a faithful and dependable employee of Renfro Construction Company, Knoxville, Tn. for many years.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy A. and Mary Evans Branner; brothers, Eddie Ray and Leroy Ray; aunts, Marlan Gray and Alice Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memories, mother, Curley Ray; sons, Curtis S. Branner, Jr., and Mark Branner of Knoxville; daughters, Daisy Ray of Newport and Alisa Branner of Knoxville; devoted friend, Joann Swaggerty of Newport; brothers, Ralph Ray of Knoxville and Stevie Ray of North Carolina; sisters, Brenda Swaggerty of Newport, Elizabeth (Libby) Cotner of White Pine and Magdalene Ray of Jefferson City; uncles, Clinton Branner and Walter Branner of Knoxville; aunts, Beulah Brooks of Morristown, Kathleen Brown of Strawberry Plains and Christivive Dockery of Morristown; great aunts, Elnora Madison of Jefferson City and Memmer Ray of Dandridge; grandchildren, Courtney Ray, Cherae Branner, Alexander (AJ) Branner and Tristin Camp; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rosie Curberson officiating.
Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2005 at Dandridge Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
