THOMAS, MRS. ALICE BRANNER - age 75, died February 28, 2000 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Former member of Goodes Temple AMEZ Church in Strawberry Plains, she joined the Community Evangelistic Church in Knoxville. She formerly resided in Strawberry Plains and in Knoxville. Preceded in death by husband, James R. Thomas; mother, Mary E. Branner ; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. She leaves to cherish her memory, 2 sons, James R. (Brenda) Thomas of Capital Heights, Md. and Ronnie A. (Jervie) Thomas of Morristown; 6 adopted children, Judy (Eric Davis) of Jefferson City, Gracie and Rita Shelton of Morristown, Steve Thomas of Kings Mountain, NC, Christie (Robert) Waters and Brett Thomas of Knoxville. Also surviving are her father, Roy A. Branner of Dandridge; 4 sisters, Curley Ray of Dandridge, Beulah Brooks of Kings Mountain, NC, Kathleen (Donald) Brown of Strawberry Plains and Christine Dockery of Kings Mountain, NC; 2 brothers, Clinton (Sarah) and Walter (Lois) of Knoxville; 5 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law; grandson, James R. (Jim) Thomas, III: 17 other grandchildren; 2 aunts; 1 uncle; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends to include the Cinda Flynn family and the employees of the Jefferson County Nursing Home. The family will assemble at the home of Donald and Kathleen Brown of 5021 W.A. Brown Road in Strawberry Plains. Friends will be received on Thursday March 2, 2000 7-8 p.m. at the Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Steve Simpson officiating. Interment on Friday, March 3 at 11 a.m. at Gillette Cemetery in Strawberry Plains. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge.
