SIMMONS , HOBERT L., SR. - age 82, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2001, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. He was retired from the Union Carbide Y12 Plant, and was a member of West Lonsdale Baptist Church. Mr. Simmons was a loving husband and father, and will be missed greatly. He is survived by his loving family, wife, Mary Margaret Simmons of Knoxville; sons and daughter-in-law, Hobert Lee Simmons , Jr. of Heiskell, and Charles Edward and Linda Simmons of Ft. Worth, Texas; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Pete Simmons of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and George Simmons of Knoxville; sisters, Joann Wells, Betty Terry, Georgia Baker, Geneva Tideman, all of Knoxville, and Elsie Price of Burnsville, N.C., and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Simmons is at Highland West Funeral Home, 9913 Sherrill Lane, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service will be conducted 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bruce Robinson officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood Cemetery.
