SIMMONS ROCK HILL, SC - Mr. Walter E. (Pete) Simmons, Sr. 83, formerly of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Kernersville, NC., passed away June 14, 2010 in Rock Hill, SC. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents, George T. and Dora Lett Simmons, two brothers, four sisters and his son, Wally Simmons. He is survived by his daughters, Vicky & Gary Dollarhite of Manqin, VA., Myra and Charles Cowan of Little River, SC., Sherry Simmons of Greensboro, NC., and Jill & Phillip McAbee of Charlotte, NC; his daughter-in-law, Dee Simmons of Kernersville, NC; his grandchildren, Gary Dollarhite, Karen Dollarhite, John P. Simmons, and Brandy McAbee; his great-grandson, Tommy Dollarhite; and his sister, Joann & Earl Wells of Knoxville, TN. Mr. Simmons was a member of North Myrtle Beach Masonic Lodge. He was employed in the trucking industry for many years with White Motor Company in Kernersville, NC and Central Transport in High Point, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 17th from 7-9 p.m. at the home of Myra Cowan, 136 Waterway Crossing Court, Little River, SC.
