J.W. Crumbley, age 38, of Newport, died Saturday, June 22, 2002 at the University of Tennesse Medical Center in Knoxville after a brief illness.
J.W. was a 1982 graduate of Cocke County High School, a long-time employee of Overholts Hardware, and was working as a full-time foster parent at the time of his death. He will always be remembered as a loving and caring person who found some type of good or humor in any situation, be it good or bad.
His mother, Brenda Cline Crumbley, preceded his death.
J.W. is survived by his wife, Sandra James Crumbley of Newport; father and stepmother, J.W. and Carrie Crumbley, Sr. of Newport; sons, Joshua Crumbley, Jamie Berryhill, Billy Allen, Jr., Jamie Wines, and Chris Wines, all of Newport; daughters, Joan Thompson of Newport, Linda Thompson of Newport, Neiftary Patterson of Newport, Peggy McCarter of Newport, Christina Holt of Newport, April Strickland of Newport, Vanessa Patridge of White Pine, and many more foster children whom he loved dearly; brothers, David Crumbley and Scott Crumbley, both of Newport; sisters, Pam Hall and Mary Ann Crumbley, both of Newport.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Manes Funeral Home.
The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26 in the Stokely's Chapel Church Cemetery.
