He was preceded in death by his parents, Lemual D. and Maggie Helton Shoemaker; and brothers, Eugene and Gerald Shoemaker. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eula Mae Shoemaker of Newport; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Buddy Hopson of Morristown; granddaughter, Julia Rhea Hopson of Morristown; brother and sister-in-law, Carroll D. and Pat Shoemaker of Sevierville; sister and brother-in-law, Emma Kate and Henry Messer of Dandridge; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Manes Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harold Mills and the Rev. Eddie Maupin officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery.
