Jack Leonard Lively, age 85, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Lively was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Oliver Springs. He was a lifelong resident of this area.
He was a retired machinist who was employed for 23 years at Mullins Tool and Engineering. He previously worked for Union Carbide at the K-25 plant in Oak Ridge for 12 years.
Mr. Lively was a member of New Fairview Baptist Church and a United States veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he earned two Bronze Service Stars along with various other medals and citations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Rutha Fritts Lively; a brother, Dillard Lively; and three sisters, Stella Jenkins, Mable Ray, and Gertrude Dinwiddie.
He is survived by his wife, Maude Prater Lively of Oliver Springs; two sons, Roger Lively and wife, Nancy, of Fairfax Station, Va., and Donnie Lively of Clinton; granddaughters, BrieAnna and Gabriella Lively; two brothers, Frank and Alvis Livey Jr., both of Knoxville; a sister, Pearl Flatt of Cookeville; and by nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, between the hours of noon and 2 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The burial and graveside service will follow the visitation at Anderson Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John Edwards officiating.
