Helen Cleo Wendt, 80, of Coalfield, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Wendt was a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service and served for 20 years as postmaster at the Coalfield post office.
She was born in Coalfield on Feb. 11, 1920, the daughter of Gratz and Jennie Carson Jackson, both deceased. She had lived in Coalfield all her life.
Mrs. Wendt was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She was the widow of William Robert Wendt.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Sims of Coalfield; two sons, James M. Wendt and his wife, Jenny, of Coalfield and William Terry Wendt and his wife, Linda, of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren, Brian Baldwin, David Baldwin, Julie Wendt, Jeremy Wendt and Matthew Wendt; one great-grandchild, Briana Baldwin; two brothers, Isaac C. Jackson and Stanley Jackson, both of Coalfield; and a sister, Leon Chaniott of LaFollette.
In addition to her husband and parents, three brothers and three sisters, Roy Jackson, Arnold Jackson, Horace Jackson, Ruby Morton, Lillie Goins and Leck Grubbs, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Feb. 21, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Mack Smith officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Estes Cemetery of Coalfield.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
