Geraldine Cora Campbell Walker, 86, of Hickory, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2010. Born January 24, 1924 in Benton, Polk County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Jenkins Campbell. Mrs. Walker, a homemaker, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Harold Samuel Walker; daughters, Saundra Walker Kennedy and husband Samuel Olin Kennedy and Donna Elaine Walker; brothers, Joseph Campbell, Jack Campbell, Daniel Campbell and Skeets Campbell; and sister, Joann Heaton. Mrs. Walker is survived by sons, Samuel Joseph Walker (Terry) of Seymour, Barry Demark Walker (partner, Ron Watson), Kelly Jerome Walker (Sylvia) and Tracy Lee Walker, all of Hickory; grandchildren, Laura Gibson, Paul Walker and Marcie Adams, all of Maryville, Leigha Starnes of Taylorsville and Heather Vasquez of Conover; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Hatcher (Hatcher), Pat Chambers (Eric) and Shelba Watts (Bill) all of Maryville. Funeral services for Mrs. Walker will be held at Catawba Funerals and Cremations on Saturday, September 4, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 3, from 6–7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
