Mrs. Barbara Ann Trentham McAndrew, of Dandridge, passed away Tues. morning, April 5, 2011. She was an active member of Dandridge First United Methodist Church. She also served on the Dandridge Planning Commission and was a member of various other fraternal and civic organizations. A retired educator, her passion was helping elect Republicans. She served as past Chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party; Founder of the Jefferson County Republican Women of the future; President of the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women 1994-97; and had served as a National Capitol Regent for over 25 years. Mrs. McAndrew was chairman of many campaigns of Republican candidates and attended several State and National Republican Conventions. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Delta (Haun) Trentham, and brother Pat Trentham. Mrs. McAndrew is survived by her husband of 55 years, Y.J. McAndrew; Brother Ben Trentham; Brother-in-law George Alger McAndrew and Sister-in-law Laurie McAndrew Lackey; several nieces and nephews and a special great-niece Lucy McAndrew. The family will receive friends Friday, April 8, 2011, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, in Newport. Funeral Service will be held at 8:00 PM with Dr. Caroline Goddard, Mr. Doug Goddard and the Hon. Telford Forgety presiding. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Union Cemetery in Newport, with Rev. Jay Ferguson officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Barbara McAndrew Iris Fund, (established by the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women to elect Republican state legislators) c/o Shirley Curry, 113 Belew Circle, Waynesboro, TN 37485 or to the Walters State Community College Foundation, PO Box 1508, Morristown, TN 37816.
