TURK, NORA JANE MCDERMOTT - of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Etowah, TN, was called home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 5, 2012 with her family at her side. Devoted member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for over 50 years. Retired from the Knox County School System in 1997; she continued her service to the community by volunteering with the Senior Companion program to provide support to older persons who had physical, mental or social needs until her health began to decline. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Willie Mae McDermott; loving husband, James E. Turk. Survivors: devoted sons, James Maurice (Renee), Norman, Leigh (Ann), Algie (Ingrid) and Howard, caregiver; grandchildren, Leigh Jr., Tanisa, James Maurice, Jr., Nakaiya and Nakeisha; siblings, Luther (Linda), Lee Roy, Jerry (Billie), Nancy, and Alice; a host of close relatives and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Services and NHC Fort Sanders. Family will receive friends, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church; funeral service, 6:30 p.m., Rev. Dr. Valentino McNeal, Pastor, Rev. Jesse Williams, Officiating. Prayer hour 12:00 noon, Saturday at Starr Bethel Baptist Church, Etowah, TN. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Etowah, Tennessee.
