Billy J. Freeman, age 68, of Patricia Lane, Greeneville, TN, died at the Johnson City Medical Center on Saturday, November 17, 2001.
He was an employee of TRW, Greeneville, for several years; an avid fisherman; a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed his friendships with his co-workers at TRW.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Shirley M. Freeman; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Lynn and Pamela Freeman, of Bulls Gap, TN; and daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and David Gass, of Greeneville, TN; five grandchildren: Randy and Dustin Freeman, of Bulls Gap; Beth and Sarah Gass, of Greeneville; and Tiffany Whitehead, of Bulls Gap; one brother, Fred Freeman, of Greeneville; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Emma Mae Fox, of Newport; Betty Easterly and Dean and Jackie Holt, of Greeneville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; special friends and neighbors: Jeff and Linda Parman and Phil and Margaret Davis.
Along with his parents, C.C. and Pearl Freeman, he was preceded in death by a sister, Loraine Lawing, and one brother, James Freeman.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Novmber 21, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow the service in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens with Reverend Gary Marshall, Reverend Rodney Banks, and Reverend Jonas Revis officiating.
Active pallbearers are: R.T. Southerland, Kyle Holt, Russell Hensley, Fred McLain, Burlin Sauceman, and Cecil Ellenburg.
Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Phillip Thwing, the staff of the fourth floor at Laughlin Hospital, and the staff of the fifth floor of the Johnson City Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday evenings at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
