Flenniken, Mildred Bernice Houser, age 91, of South Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at St. Mary's Mercy Hospice. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church since 1952. Retired from Allied Chemical as a sewing inspector and was a member of the local union. Mildred loved the outdoors, gardening, painting, her children, and grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Thomas Wallace Flenniken, Jr.; son, Richard Wallace Flenniken; parents, Bert and Dixie Houser; sisters, Ruby Mayes and Lucille Huff; brothers, Tommy Houser, Paul Houser, and Bert Houser. She is survived by her loving family: Sons, Donnie and wife Brenda, Roger and wife Sarah, Tommy and wife Becky, Fred R. and wife Ann; Daughter, Patricia Ewing Flenniken. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sister, Mary Holsenback and several nieces and nephews.Funeral 8 PM Thursday, October 7, 2010 Berry Chapel. Dr. Deron Cobb officiating. The family will meet at Berry Funeral Home 10 AM Friday, October 8, 2010 and proceed to Mt. Olive Cemetery for an 11AM graveside service.The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
