(October 24, 1967 - April 21, 2010) Ruth Ann McGhee Lewis, age 42, of Newport, passed Wednesday morning, April 21, 2010 at U. T. Medical Center, following a two-year valiant battle with cancer. She was a career employee of the Tennessee Department of Health and was working for the Sevier County Health Department. She became a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church at an early age, and most recently attended the First United Methodist Church of Newport. Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lewis; and father, Jack McGhee. Survivors are young daughters, Madelyn and Jaclyn Lewis, of the home; mother, Mary Ruth McGhee, of Newport; brothers, Brent McGhee of Newport and Barry McGhee of Morristown; mother-in-law, Loretta (John) Clark of Newport; father-in-law, Charles Lewis of Arizona; brother-in-law, Nathan Fine of Knoxville and his father, Robert Fine of Dandridge; and aunt Lois Loope of Virginia; and other family and friends. Visitation will be Friday, April 23, 2010 at Manes Funeral Home in Newport, from 6-8 pm, with funeral services to follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Rick Spell and Rev. Marta Cogburn officiating.
