He was a member of Moran Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reece and Nellie Moore Childs ; sister, Edith Haney; and brothers, Hubert, Bob and Lawrence Childs . Survivors include his sister, Lorene Davis of Clinton; brothers, Fred Childs of Clinton and Clyde Childs of Coalfield; and several nieces and nephews, and host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 7, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Luke Kidwell and the Rev. Ralph Wilson officiating. Graveside services will be Friday, May 8, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
