Irene Mabel Dockery, age 80, of 324 Superior Avenue, Mansfield, OH, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Dockery was born October 16, 1929 to the late Cecil and Recie Swanger Brockwell in Newport, TN and had lived in Mansfield for the past 62 years.
Irene began her career in health services at Mansfield General Hospital in 1955 and retires as a nurse's aide in 1995 after 60 years of service and spent an addition five years in private service.
She was a member of the Apostolic Church of Christ where she served on the Usher Board and choir member. She was a member of the Kinship Navigator and FORMS Retirement Club at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. For enjoyment she loved reading her Bible, traveling, and loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde B. Dockery, Sr., son, and grandson.
Irene is survived by her two daughters Mary Dulin and Joyce (Walden) Jefferson, both of Mansfield; three grandsons Eddie, Marlin, and Harold, presently serving in Afghanistan; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, of Mansfield; and six siblings: Alma Ruth Gilland, Elizabeth White, Mary Norton, Charles Brockwell, and David Brockwell, all of Newport, TN, and Lloyd Brockwell of Asheville, NC.
Friends may call in the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Services on Sunday, April 11, 2010, after 1:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. funeral services will be held Monday, April 12, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.

Irene M. DOCKERY, 80, of 324 Superior Ave., died Tuesday, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a sudden illness. Mrs. Dockery was born to the late Cecil and Recie Swanger Brockwell in Newport, Tennessee and had lived in Mansfield the past 62 years. Irene began her career in health services in the maternity ward of then Mansfield General Hospital in 1955 and retired as a nurses aid in 1995 after 40 years of service. After retirement she still wanted to help people and became a Private Home Health Care Aide for 5 years. She was a faithful member of the Apostolic Church Of Christ where she served on the Senior Usher Board, a member of the choir and assisted with snacks for the children between Sunday School and Church. She was a member of the Kinship Navigator where they had many potluck dinners, FORMS Retirement Club at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. For enjoyment she loved reading her Bible alone and with her sisters in Christ praising his word, traveling, and being involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irene is survived by her 2 Daughters: Mary Dulin, and Joyce (Walden "Butch") Jefferson both of Mansfield; 3 Grandsons: Eddie (Wanda) Dockery whom she raised as her own, and Marlin (Shawna) Scott both of Mansfield; and Harold (Rhonda) Scott, Jr. of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina presently serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan; 14 Great Grandchildren, including 2 special grandchildren Destiny and Darrius Dockery Marshall whom she help raise; 6 Great Great Grandchildren; a special friend who she adopted as her daughter: Ethyle Scott of Mansfield; and 6 Siblings: Alma Ruth Gilliam, Elizabeth White, Mary Norton, Charles and David Brockwell all of Newport, Tennessee, and Lloyd Brockwell of Ashville, North Carloina. In addition to her parents Irene was also preceded in death by her husband Clyde B. Dockery, Sr.son Clyde, Jr., and her grandson Clyde E. "Boober" Dockery.
Services:
Friends may call in the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Services on Sunday after 1 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6-8. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Williams Funeral Services with Elder Eddie Massey of the Apostolic Faith Church of Mt. Vernon delivering the eulogy. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery. The family will also receive friends at the home from 4-8 p.m. daily till the day of the funeral service.
