DEAVOURS , WILLIAM "BILL" L. - age 84 of LaFollette, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Lake City Health Care Center. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Ala. He was employed at JC Penny's for 24 years. He was the owner of D-Mart of LaFollette. He worked at Campbell County High School for 24 years. Bill Deavours and Jerry Bacon co-founded the board game called "Run for the Whitehouse". He was a veteran of WW II. Mr. Deavours was the publisher and author of 2 books. He served on City and County Planning Commission. Mr. Deavours was a well known news paper columnist of the LaFollette Press. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by parents, Carl and Dora Cowart Deavours and by several brothers and sisters, Bill is survived by wife, Mary Cox Deavours of LaFollette son, Billy Deavours of LaFollette sons and daughters in law, Dennis and Cora Deavours of LaFollette and David and Jennifer Deavours of Eureka, Mont. daughter and son in law, Kathy and Billy Sampieri of LaFollette 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren brother and sister in law, George and Reba Deavours of Knoxville several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Williams and grandson, Brandon Elkins officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell County Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday prior to services. Martin Wilson Funeral Home is in charge.
