BREWER, ELIZABETH LONG - age 86, of Maryville, died at 6 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2000 at Baptist Hospital. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and First Christian Church of Maryville. She was a teacher in the Blount County School System for 43 years before retiring from the Alcoa School System. Preceded in death by parents, Benjamin & Annis Merriman ; first husband, W.J. Long; brothers, Herchel, Roy, Benny Jr., and Walter Merriman ; sister, Helen Cutshaw. Survivors include: husband, Edward Brewer; sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin & Joyce Long of Maryville and Ben H. & Wanda Long of Alcoa, Dale & Jolene Brewer of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Betty & Bob Hurst of Scottsboro, Ala.; sister, Naomi Shields of Maryville; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 8 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2000 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Harold Ray, Minister, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2000 at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. Family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2000, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000.
