She was born October 26, 1910 in Scott County, Tennessee and passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2007. Effie was a long time member of West Lonsdale Baptist Church and was a retired LPN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Albert Adkins, parents Harrison and Mary Belle Byrd, and infant son; daughter and son in law Jetta and Allen Ballard; son Ray Adkins; brothers Arlie, Arvil and Onva; sisters Altie Byrd and Nellie Marcum. Effie is survived by her son and daughters in law Boyd and Pat Adkins of Knoxville and Mary Kate Adkins of Powell, TN; grandchildren Linda Adkins of Huntsville, AL, Kim Pruitt and husband Kevin of Johnson City, TN, Lynn Estes Chapman and husband Chip of Chattanooga, TN, Terrill Adkins and wife Dana of Knoxville, Beverly Mize and husband Ricky of Powell, TN and Janet Duffey and husband William of Knoxville; great grandchildren Matthew and Jason Estes of Chattanooga, Taylor Pruitt of Johnson City, Joshua and Amanda Mize of Powell, Rachel and Elizabeth Duffey of Knoxville, Caitlin, Sarah and Emily Adkins of Knoxville and sister Bertie Adkins of Knoxville. Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. T. M. Cody officiating. The family and friends will meet by 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the main entrance to Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside and interment service. Pallbearers will be Kevin Pruitt, Taylor Pruitt, William Duffey, Ricky Mize, Joshua Mize, Matthew Estes and Jason Estes. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to West Lonsdale Baptist Church, 2720 Dayton St., Knoxville, TN 37921.
