ADKINS, ALBERT - age 96 of Knoxville, passed away Friday, June 20, 2003. He was a member of West Lonsdale Baptist Church. He retired from the L & N Railroad in 1971 after 37 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Sylvester and Nancy Adkins infant son daughter, Jetta Ballard brothers, Audie, Blaine, Tom, and Evan sister, Janette. Survived by wife of 73 years, Effie Byrd Adkins sons and daughters-in-law, Boyd and Pat Adkins, Ray and Kate Adkins, of Knoxville grandchildren, Linda Adkins of Huntsville, AL, Kim Pruitt of Kingsport, Lynn Estes of Chattanooga, Terrill Adkins, Janet Duffey and Beverly Mize of Knoxville 10 great-grandchildren brothers, Claud and Virgil sister, Geneva. Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, with Reverend Bruce Harris officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, at Greenwood Cemetery for a 10:00 a.m. graveside service. Pallbearers will be Terrill Adkins, Kevin Pruitt, William Duffey, Jason Estes, Matt Estes, Ricky Mize and Josh Mize. The family would like to thank the 5th floor staff of Shannondale Health Care Center for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to West Lonsdale Baptist Church, 2720 Dayton St., Knoxville, TN 37921. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2003 at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
